About Alison Naomi Holt
“One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.” – Carl Sagan
I grew up listening to my mother regaling me with the most wonderful stories full of adventures, heroes, and curly-tailed pigs. I promote reading wherever I go and believe literacy is the key to changing the world for the better.
When I write, I follow Heinlein’s Rules, the first rule being You Must Write. To that end, I write in several genres simply because I enjoy the great variety of characters and settings my over-active fantasy life creates. I love when a character looks over their shoulder, crooks a finger for me to follow, and heads off on an adventure. From medieval castles to a horse farm in Virginia to the police beat in Tucson, Arizona, my characters live exciting lives, and I’m happy enough to follow them around and report on what I see.
My previous life as a cop gave me a bizarre sense of humor, a realistic look at life, and an insatiable desire to live life to the fullest. I love all horses & hounds and some humans…
In addition to writing, I’m an avid horsewoman who grew up working on a cattle ranch in the Sonoran Desert. I own a bay, grade quarter horse, which means his background is as dubious as mine.
I love adventure and have traveled to many parts of the world. My travels have taken me to Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand. I’ve visited Thailand and have spent a lot of time in England and parts of Scotland. Hopefully, once the pandemic ends, I’ll be able to continue to explore this wondrous world we call home.
